As we continue with Day Two of Arduin Week 2020 let us begin with another item from our anonymous guest artist and his tribute to Dave Hargrave and Arduin.
The next two volumes that along with The Arduin Grimoire make up The Arduin Trilogy are Welcome to Skull Tower and The Runes of Doom.
These first three volumes have been organized and placed into a single newly typeset volume as The Arduin Trilogy with this cover:
The following In Memoriam was placed at the beginning of this new presentation.
Of course no one could turn a phrase quite like Dave Hargrave:
There are three iconic monsters that Dave Hargrave introduced in Arduin. These are some great names and great monsters. Since the descriptions are quite lengthy I am only going to post a couple of snippets for each below:
Classic!
Their "time slips" make for interesting combat, as does their leaping ability which is in another part of the description.
Note that they do not have to kill you to eat you, they will not quibble about eating you or anything else alive.
Also there were many new classes for your campaign, two of these where the Star Powered Mage and the True Paladin Class.
They have limits, but they also have perks, especially at night under a starry sky.
My Paladins have been strongly influenced by the Arduin version, as they are indeed much more than just a fighting Cleric.
This does not even skim the surface where Arduin is concerned.

I love the Phraints, they are a very versatile and worthy opponent. When I obtained The Arduin Grimoire and then volumes two and three, I added these monsters to my OD&D campaign.
Adjudicating a combat full of leaps and time slips between Deodanths and Phraints
Saurigs are my favorite Dave Hargrave creation. As they were split into two types, when I moved them into my campaign, I split my version into several types beyond these two.
Note that they do not have to kill you to eat you, they will not quibble about eating you or anything else alive.
