Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 059)

Another earthquake happened during the night as the dungeon reshuffled itself. All around you the ruins are completely different in appearance. Giant piles of rubble where there were little piles before. A dozen pools of water are scattered around.

As you explore the area again, you find over two dozen stairways, chutes and deep holes throughout the ruins. At one of the holes you drop a large rock, but you never hear it hit anything.

What do you do?

You don't have enough men to guard all the openings, what are you going to do?

What's that? You are going to move the camp so that you have a defensive position with nothing behind you but a solid wall and all the opening are in front of you. You say you are going to explore that nearest opening, while your camp guards are setup to defend themselves.

You continue to explore and listen and check things out before you ever go underground.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 058)

You walk down the stairway 30' to another landing ( good catch, yes, the water level above extends into another dimension, another world) and when you step outside the area of the landing, instead of walking to one of the doors that you see, you find yourself in the middle of  a maze, a very large maze.

What do you do?

Can you find your way out, can you solve the maze or can you untie the Gordian Knot of the maze.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 057)

As you stand before this seemingly endless pool of water three mermaids rise out of the water standing on their tails. They are large with their heads about 7 feet above the surface of the water. They beckon to you to come to them.

What do you do?

As you watch them, you see that each has a ring in the palm of their hand, again they beckon to you to come take the ring.

What do you do?

If you take the ring it is a ring of water breathing, if you refuse, then you will mortally offend them.

Choose wisely!

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 056)

You walk down the stairway another 40' and where there should be a landing their is a pool of water surrounding the stairway as far as you can see in any direction. A "lip" that extends a foot above the water keeps the water from flowing down the stairway. This lip is 18 inches thick. A 10' pole does not reach the bottom of the water. A grappling hook tied to a 50' rope does not reach the bottom of the water.

What do you do?

Shooting an arrow across the water with a long bow results in a faint splash.

Time and patience results in the catching of strange eyeless fish and eyeless eels.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 055)

You continue on down the stairway another 60' to a hexagonal landing that is 60' to a side. This area is well lit in sunshine, from where you don't know. It is walkways of polished stone running through areas of trees, flowers and other plants that occupy most of the space. On the far side of the outer walkway the outside wall is black granite, smooth and polished, with no apparent openings.

What do you do?

About 40' from you a creature walks out through the wall, turns away from you walks about 20' and then just past the corner turns and walks back through the wall.

What do you do?

There is a secret to traversing the wall, do you know what it is?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 054)

You continue down the stairs another 80' to reach the next landing. Here you see a landing 40'x40' with the stairway in the center, the landing is surrounded by four blank walls, but when you step away from the stairway, the stairway, the landing and the walls disappear, shocked you take a step backwards and then another and you are again at the stairway with the same scene as before.

This time you move forward slowly and the moment the scene changes you stick your spear into the ground and clearly mark the ground with an arrow pointing back the way you came. Now looking around you are in the middle of a large grassy plain and all you see is tall grass up to your shoulders in every direction, no trees or building or hills or even mountains in the distance, just the grass and the sky. Oddly in the sky you see two suns near one horizon and near the opposite horizon you see three large moons. Your world has only one sun and two moons.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 053)

You go down another flight of the stairs and you come out of the landing to a dark, dank, wet, cold system of small interconnected caves. Water is dripping everywhere and there is fungus everywhere. There is constant noise and you think somewhere nearby is a waterfall and a river.

At the edge of the light you think you see small creatures darting around you and you hear the chattering of voices.

What do you do?

Then a large shape comes out of the gloom and as it gets closer you see that it is a heavily muscled *troll with a large gaping mouth.

What do you do?

*My trolls are mindless hungry eating machines. They only become intelligent when they get past 500+ years old and they also grow as long as they live, so trolls that have been around long enough to have some intelligence are also very large, to large to fit into a dungeon. Trolls are essentially immortal and die only of violence, specifically fire and/or acid damage. Even a small piece of troll will grow into a new troll.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 052)

You go down another flight of the stairs and you come out on the edge of a perfectly round tunnel, you step from a small landing through a small opening into the tunnel. The tunnel is cut through bedrock in a perfect circle that weaves back and forth as you follow it. Every now and then an identical tunnel cuts across the one that you are in.

As you follow the tunnel, at irregular intervals you see clumps on the floor of the tunnel, clumps of copper, iron, tin, zinc, silver, gold and other metals all mixed together. These clumps which are mostly iron and copper range from one to two feet across and are like half flattened spheres. You come across one every 200' to 300' apart.

On the walls of the tunnel you see here and there streaks of color that identifies a little ore here and there. Something is cutting the tunnel and concentrating out the ores that are present.

You have been following the tunnels for a while and have changed tunnels a few times. You suddenly realize that you have not marked your path, you are lost and not sure of your way back to the stairway.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 051)

Ok, you survived the vampires, good for you. After that you figured out that this level constantly shuffles itself around, from rooms in many configurations to a wide open space. At each shuffle different monsters and room features appear. Some of them even have treasure, but the odds on any one shuffle are low, but a few of the shuffles are quite rich. It all depends on how much time you want to spend on this level AND on how long this level remains where it currently is.

After a dozen bites at the apple, two near TPKs and the loss of five party members out of the 12 you stated with, you get lucky and reap the following:

5,000 Copper Pieces

2,000 Silver Pieces

10 Gold Pieces, Gold is very rare and extremely valuable.

Various gems and precious stones for another 5,000 Silver Pieces value.

Three scrolls and two maps, one of the maps is of this dungeon and if you stick with it you will find out that the details on the map shift and reform as the dungeon itself changes. You might even find a clue to the earthquakes, actually dungeon-quakes, if you stick with it.

There are two swords and five javelins. There are four potions and three jars of salve. There is a ring, an amulet and a cloak. There is 50' of rope that glows. Six-one foot segments of rod that snap together, to form a quarterstaff, but it will also become flexible and crawl like a snake, even up into the air, and it can do many other things.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 050)

You walk towards the newly created door that beckons you, as you approach the door swings open by itself, in the dark behind it are eyes, many eyes.

What do you do?

As you get closer you see that the eyes are red, the skin is pale, very pale and the face has a feral look to it with long visible fangs.

What do you do? Stay in the sunlight shining over the stairway or enter the room. You see the eyes, you hear the voices, what do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 049)

What do you do? Right or left or back towards the stairway? How wide is the river, if you throw a light stone, you will see it hit the water and you will still not see the far bank of the river.

If you go to the right you will walk 1500' paces to a wall that runs from the river at a 45° angle away from you. If you follow that wall you will walk 4500 paces to a corner 90° that turns to the right. You can follow that 6000 paces to a second corner 90° that turns to the right. You will follow that another 6000 paces to a third corner 90° that turns to the right. If you follow that you will walk 4500 paces and arrive back at the river. Along the way you will see nothing else but wall, floor and columns.

As you stand looking at the river you hear behind you the sound of sliding stone, if you move in the direction of the sound you will see a wall sliding across the floor between you and where you think the stairway is.

What do you do?

If you hurry you will see that the sliding wall is coming from both directions and if you run you will just get through between the two immense slabs before they close behind you. You hear more sliding stone and as you hurry towards the stairs you hear that sound all around you. As you reach the stairway, there are stone walls all around you. As you pause at the stairway, you see doors appear on the walls around you. One door opens and seems to beckon to you.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 048)

It is morning and the stairway is still there.

What do you do? Up again or down?

Going to the stairway and peering down into the darkness you listen intently and hear faint sounds, some coming up from below and some coming down from above.

What do you do?

Which should you explore, continue from yesterday or start downward? This place is massive, where to start or should you go recruit a much larger group?

You start down the stairway and at the first landing you look around. The stairway opens into a very large room, with all the light at your disposal you cannot see any walls in any direction. You do see many supporting columns in every direction but no walls.

What do you do?

If you decide to explore this open area, one of your party  fastens a number of light stones around the stairway so that you will have a beacon to return to.

Coordinating with someone at ground level on the stairway you mark the four points of the world around the stairway and decide to head east. You walk forward and stop every 20 paces to listen quietly and look around. You hear nothing as you do this. As you come to each column you mark it to help find your way back.

After 200 paces the light stones have grown very faint, you decide to keep going. When you stop at 2,000 paces, you listen and in the distance ahead you hear, what you think is the roar of moving water. You rest, eat and decide to continue.

Another 1,000 paces and you come to a river that is about 200' wide, the water is fast moving and clear enough that your light stones let you see the bottom in  a small area. You tie three 10' poles together and they just reach the bottom where you are on the bank. At the edge of your light you see large shapes in the water.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 047)

As you make your way back to the stairway through the massive ruins you run across several skeletons (not animated), giant skeletons that would have been about 20' tall in life. That makes you wonder even more about the stairway, since these fellows could not have used it.

Everything about these ruins appears to have been well picked over. You wonder what killed these giants and brought down these ruins. It is what it is, just another mystery, like so many others you have come across, you wonder if there is anyone who knows these tales of long ago. If only the stones could speak. (hint)

Back to the stairway (see this post for info about this stairway). Again you are on Level 100 (UP).

Heading back down the stairway you come to Level 99 (UP) which has one of the landings with eight doors leading away from it. The eight doors are equally spaced around a circular landing.

What do you do? Explore here or continue on down the stairway?

As you pause to think about it, something strikes you as odd and you go back up the stairway, but there is no landings and no ruins, because the stairway now continues on up and it looks like it goes up for a very long way. From where you are you see only stone walls extending up around the stairway and if you go up the stairway 40', 80' 100' there are no landing and the stairway continues much farther than you can see.

What do you do? Up or Down?

If you go up, you will climb for days, perhaps as much as a week, to get to the top and to the ruins you were in just a short time ago. If you go down you will return to Level 99, you can explore there or continue on down the stairway.

What do you do? If you stop at Level 99 for a bit, you will smell a strong reptilian smell and hear the hissing of large snakes.

As you continue on down the stairway, at each Level you will hear sounds or smell smells or both. Eventually you reach ground level again. It is late, so you camp wondering if the stairway will be there in the morning.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 046)

If you explore the ruins, they are huge and they extend about a mile in all directions from the stairway, at that point you run into a very heavy fog bank where visibility drops to a few feet. If you walk about 100' into the fog bank, you realize that you are now walking on fog and not the ground.

What do you do? Do you keep walking or do you turn back?

If you turn back you can return safely to the ruins and eventually to the stairway. If you keep walking forward, who knows, it is possible you might fall off the edge of a cloud.

You have returned to the stairway, what do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 045)

Continuing from this:

Meanwhile back topside there has been another apparent earthquake. This time a broad circular stairway (and nothing else) sticks up 40' out of the surrounding ruins. The stairs are piled high with skeletons (not the animated kind) and disintegrating armor and rusty, broken swords.

As you clear the stairway a few things become apparent. As you climb the stairway you see landings leading to areas, if you step onto one of those landings, both the landing and you become invisible to those at ground level around the stairway. Only when entering the stairway do these other areas become visible. If you climb the stairway more than 40' you become invisible to those outside the stairway at ground level.

When you are standing in the stairway, it extends upward and downward an indefinite distance, further than you can see.

What do you do? One option is of course to do nothing. Another is to explore upward on the stairway or downward. What do you choose to do?

If you climb the stairway, there are 29 steps for each 20' in height that you climb and at each 20' mark there is a circular landing that surrounds the stairway, at some landing there are four, sometimes six, and sometimes eight doors leading away from the landing.

You decide to climb to see how far up the stairway goes. 3000 steps later you reach the top which has a landing that opens directly to the outdoors, you are standing in the middle of ruins that look much more extensive than those at the bottom of the stairway where you entered. This level where the ruins are is the 100th level up and you passed 99 levels to get here. Things were eerily silent on the way up. Something is off, but you can't tell what.

What do you do? Are you going out into the ruins to look around?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 043)

You don't know how deep you are (over a mile deep) or if you are at the bottom of the dungeon (you aren't, it goes much deeper) but you do know that it is a long way back to the surface and the odds of making it out are not good.

What do you do?

So picking it up here:

#1) You are in large cavern, you can tell because your lightstone barely lights a spot in the gloom. You seem to be on a bit of a high point because it slopes down in all directions. You can hear dripping water and off in the distance running water. As you listen you can hear things moving and other things scurrying around.

What do you do?

Going back up the slide is not an option. As you stand, you feel a slight breeze, you decide to move in the direction the breeze is coming from.

Moving down the slope you come to a area of pebbles at the bottom and as you check it out you find a path leading mostly in the direction from which comes the breeze. As you travel along the path you can hear movement to your left and your right and you think something is on the path behind you. Now and then you hear a low growl that sends shivers up your spine.

As you move along the path, ahead of you in the dim light you see a huge figure triple the height of a man. It is wearing armor and is holding a sword that glows brightly.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 042)

Going back to this post

This room is 100'x60' and built of marble and granite. While the room was very ornate, everything is damaged with broken rock and stone everywhere. Also there are lots of scorch marks, as though very high heat was repeatedly present in this room.

The two end walls each have three doors ( three to the north and three to the south) for a total of six doors.

So let's take a look at the right hand door on the south wall, as you face south.  A corridor runs south and 20' in there is a T with a branch running off to the right (west). If you follow the branch to the west it will go 50' to a 30' diameter circular area with a spiral stairway in the center. This is a 4 way intersection as well.

The stairway looks very odd, from one angle it looks like a standard steep spiral stairway, but from another angle it looks like a slide and other angles look other ways.

What do you do?

If you go down the stairway you travel a dozen steps and then it becomes a slide and you are on your way down. Soon you are traveling very fast and you seen many flashes of light which may be open doorways of levels that you are passing. A long time later, the slope becomes more gradual and you come to a stop at the bottom.

You don't know how deep you are (over a mile deep) or if you are at the bottom of the dungeon (you aren't, it goes much deeper) but you do know that it is a long way back to the surface and the odds of making it out are not good.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 041)

 Continuing on from here:

And on the far 400' wall are many doors leading somewhere. Depending on the time of day this room could be very noisy and filled with many creatures eating. From the looks of everything you have seen, these creature must be a fair amount bigger than humans.

Room #22) Passing through the doors on the far wall into a 30'x400' space you see 40-6' wide door spaced evenly along the far wall of that space. Above each door are runes and each door has a different set of runes of varying lengths.

What do you do?

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 040)

Going back to this post

This room is 100'x60' and built of marble and granite. While the room was very ornate, everything is damaged with broken rock and stone everywhere. Also there are lots of scorch marks, as though very high heat was repeatedly present in this room.

The two end walls each have three doors ( three to the north and three to the south) for a total of six doors.

So let's take a look at the center door on the south wall. This door opens into a corridor that goes in about 10' and then immediately slopes down and drops 20' over a 200' distance.

Once it resumes a level path it widens out and does two things, one is that it loops around and goes back along side the sloped portion, until it is able to turn and be completely beneath the area that was sloped and continues to the north. But ahead to the south it goes 20' to a four way intersection.

Straight ahead the corridor is extremely clean. There are a multitude of doors on the opposite sides of the corridor facing each other spaced every 30'.

Let's look at the right hand wall first.

#1) This room is 28'x60' and filled with bunks, tables and chairs and although empty at the moment it appears to be currently in active use. As you continue down the corridor there are 9 more identical rooms, #2 to #10 and the corridor gradually gets a little wider as you go.

With a spot check maid the left hand side of the corridor appears to have an identical 10 rooms as well. #11 to #20.

Just past these rooms the corridor widens way out and on the far side of a 40'x20' area are four sets of double doors. Room #21) On the other side of those doors is a large area about 400' x 200' filled with table and chairs and along one entire walls are opening into kitchens. And on the far 400' wall are many doors leading somewhere. Depending on the time of day this room could be very noisy and filled with many creatures eating. From the looks of everything you have seen, these creature must be a fair amount bigger than humans.

Clerics and The Undead

Clerics vs The Undead

Below is part of the, but if you want to see the full table that extends to 20th Level Clerics, go here

A 20th level Cleric vs a 20 HD Lich would require a roll of 12 on 2d6 plus at least a one point bonus from so source under the full table with the footnotes in effect.

Any Undead that cannot be dispelled/dissolved must be turned twice in a time period of five melee rounds without a failure for those specific undead for them to completely leave the area.

Also for example, if there are 40 Skeletons and a successful turn roll is made and then 10 are turned, on the next round another turn attempt can be made to turn the ones that were not affected the first round. This continues until they have all been turned twice in five melee rounds or until a turning failure occurs. Once a failure occurs, those specific undead for that specific attempt can not be turned, but turning others can still be attempted.

Clerics versus the Undead

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 039)

Sorry guys, I still do not have access to a scanner.

Ok, so going back to this point: "Starting with Door #1 on the north wall next to the long mirrored wall. Stepping through this door into a corridor which runs straight for 20', makes a 90° turn and runs 30' where it dead ends into a T which runs north-south.  To the right it extends north for an undetermined distance, to the left it extends the length of the mirrored wall and continues and indeterminate distance south. Away past the end of the mirrored wall it forms a T where a corridor from Door #4 on the south wall joins."

Going back to the point where we have two T's one at either end of the back side of the mirrored wall:

At 20' past the T's on either end the there is a *four way intersection. Looking first at the north end, the four way intersection, right branch runs 30' takes a 90° turn and continues north. The left branch runs 30' to another four way intersection. This all mirrored at the south end.

At the *four way intersection noted, the middle branch which runs north south (and passes behind the mirrored wall)  runs 60' to a T the long part of which extends to the right, this is repeated every 60' at least 40 times. This is all mirrored at the south end.

This level extends at least (at a minimum) 5000' x 5000'. And three different sub-levels exist for each of the four quadrants.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 038)

On the opposite side of the corridor mentioned in this post are five rooms each is 20'x20'.

Rooms #12, #13, #14, #15, and #16.

#16) When you enter this room, the room is dark and empty, except on the far side of the room from the door their are four glowing door sized shapes. One is blue, one is red, one is gold and one is silver. Each one of these shimmers and is a little hard to look at. In front of each is a round post four feet high and about a foot in diameter, on each, in the center of the top surface is a post one inch in diameter and four inches high.

If investigated, you will find that each small post can be depressed into the larger post. If that is done the glowing door shape in front of that post will stop shimmering and as that shape opens to show beyond it the image of a *world rotating in a void with stars all around it.  A voice will sound in your head saying, "Enter now **(________, fame, riches, glory and honor await you!" This will occur with anyone of the four that is tried. The specific phrase will change slightly depending on how depresses the smaller post.

**Brave Warrior or **Skilled Mage or **Holy Cleric

What do you do?

*If more than one post is depressed, each one will show a starkly different world.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 037)

On the opposite side of the corridor mentioned in this post are five rooms each is 20'x20'.

Rooms #12, #13, #14, #15, and #16.

#15)  This room has a really odd door, it isn't wood or metal, but is some strange, odd, blue-black, hard, slightly flexible, material. The surface is completely smooth and warm. (Yes, there is a secret to this door, can you guess?) If checked, the door will detect* as mildly magical.

Once inside the room you see three tables, each with a black table cloth, a large candle burning, a large mug, several scrolls, a quill pen, several nibs and an ink well. Each table has one chair. The wall on the corridor is bare, the left wall has a row of floor to ceiling shelves, filled with scrolls, the back wall is bare except for a small pipe coming from the wall from which pours a liquid that falls into a small (3' diameter pool). On a fourth table beside the pool is a pitcher, three loaves of bread and three wheels of cheese. On the right hand wall are more shelves filled with leather bound books.

If checked you would find there is a lot of magic in the room, but assuming where it comes from could be deceiving.

What do you do?

*My Detect Magic spell gives you a range of how magical something is from barely magical all the way up to extremely  magical. Some materials are much easier enchanted than others as well.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 036)

On the opposite side of the corridor mentioned in this post are five rooms each is 20'x20'.

Rooms #12, #13, #14, #15, and #16.

#14) In the middle of this room is a table on which sits 12 potions. Do you feel lucky? These potions will be very unusual and will be things that you have never run into before. Each potion will have a different effect on the consumer of the potion. The effects could be positive or negative. Some effects will be perceived positively by one drinker, but a different drinker would perceive it to be a negative.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 035)

On the opposite side of the corridor mentioned in this post are five rooms each is 20'x20'.

Rooms #12, #13, #14, #15, and #16.

#13)  This room has a very high ceiling and in the room are five tall statues.

One is a giant snake whose length is stretched around the circumference of the room and then its head is raised 15' in the air. In its mouth is a highly ornamented and gem encrusted chest that is roughly 1'x1'x1' with a domed lid that rises another 8".

The second is a tall thin elephant with large emeralds for eyes.

The third is a tall thin great cat with large diamonds for eyes.

The four is a tall thin man who hold a golden scepter the is encrusted with gems.

The fifth is a tall thin wolf sitting on its haunches and in its mouth it holds a golden pail whose contents you cannot see.

If anyone of those items mentioned is moved or the eyes are popped out, that creature will come to life and attack. The golden pail contains enough star metal to make alloy with steel to make a powerful magic sword.

At random, if a specific item is disturbed, they will all come to life and attack at the same time. Roll a d6 and if the result is 1 to 5 and that item is the one disturbed first, that all will come to life. If a 6 is roll, then any item will trigger them all coming to life.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 034)

On the opposite side of the corridor mentioned in this post are five rooms each is 20'x20'.
Rooms #12, #13, #14, #15, and #16.

#12) This room has all the walls and ceiling covered with mirrors. The four corners on the floor are also mirrors. The majority of the room is taken up by a pool of water with a diameter of 20'. The pool is very deep and in the center of the pool the water wells up about two feet above the level of the doorway, but all around the outer 6' of the pool there is a strong down current that will drag you under and take you very deep.

If you had a Ring of Water Breathing and enough rope so your friends could pull you up ... well who knows what you mind find a couple of hundred feet down.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Summary of January)

Here is my summary of my January 2023 #Dungeon23 creative work. The caveat here is that over the last 48 years of OD&D I have never once set down at a desk and created dungeon areas in the advance of a game. I have always created my dungeons in game on the fly and that has worked really well for me.

Here is what I have discovered over the first month:

1. Creating on the fly is much, much easier by orders of magnitude.

2. I am much more creative in the moment with players around me, than I am sitting at a desk by myself.

3. I have trouble just describing the room and what is in it, I default repeatedly to describing it through the players eyes.

4. Although the premise of #Dungeon23 is do one room per day for one level per month for 12 months to finish with 12 levels and 365 rooms, I am incapable of sticking to that.

Oh and one other comment, for me as both a referee and as a player the primary reason I do both is for exploration. Exploration is for the me, my favorite part of the game. I always want to know what is around the next corner or over the next hill. For me everything else is secondary to exploration.

Sooo to summarize here is what I have learned about the dungeon during the first month of #Dungeon23. On the first day I discovered Level One of the Dungeon  - which I named The Ruins of Mount Auyán. At least I thought it was Level One. Turns out that an, as yet, unknown number of dungeon levels change places and so what is Level One changes from time to time. Don't know yet if all the dungeon levels change places or only a few of them. The other thing I have discovered is that this dungeon is going to be way more massive than I thought it was going to be when I started on day one.

Level One

Day One - 8 Rooms

Day Two - 1 Room with 15 doors

Day Three - 25 Rooms and a Stairway that leads to 30 sub-levels

Day Four - 2 Rooms

Day Five - 18 Rooms

The Dungeons shuffled itself overnight, so still calling this Level Two (even though it is at the Level One location, at least temporarily)

Day Six - 3 Rooms

Day Seven - One Room and a passage to into another world

Day Eight - 2 Rooms - My version of The Grue, which I call The Appetite

Day Nine - 1 Room

Day Ten - 6 Rooms - One has a magical forge

Day Eleven - 12 Rooms

Day Twelve - 40 Rooms

Day Thirteen - 3 Rooms

Day Fourteen - 1 Area (Room)

Day Fifteen - 1 Room - 3 Portals that will lead to other areas of the dungeon

Passing through a Portal to some other unknown level.

Day Sixteen - 2 Rooms

Day Seventeen - 1 Room - Awaken a King who has slept for centuries

Day Eighteen - 1 Room

Day Nineteen - 1 Room

Day Twenty - 1 Room (large cavern)

Day Twenty One - 1 Room

Day Twenty Two - 1 Room with ten cells

Day Twenty Three - 1 Room

Overnight things have shuffled again. There is an above ground Tower now.

The Tower

Day Twenty Four - Three rooms and a passage into another world partly described

Day Twenty Five - More exploration of another world outdoors

Now back to the dungeon, so still calling this Level Three (even though it is at the Level One location, at least temporarily)

Day Twenty Six - 1 Room (Area One) of a massive cavern.

Day Twenty Seven - 1 Room (Area One)(continued) of a massive cavern and partial description. There are 85 passages leading out of this cavern

Day Twenty Eight - 1 Room (Area 1A)

Day Twenty Nine - 1 Room (Area 1B)

Day Thirty - 1 Room (Area 1C)

Day Thirty One - 1 Room (Area 1D) 12 coffins whose occupants are awake and waiting.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 033)

Starting with Door #1 on the north wall next to the long mirrored wall. Stepping through this door into a corridor which runs straight for 20', makes a 90° turn and runs 30' where it dead ends into a T which runs north-south.  To the right it extends north for an undetermined distance, to the left it extends the length of the mirrored wall and continues and indeterminate distance south. Away past the end of the mirrored wall it forms a T where a corridor from Door #4 on the south wall joins.

Along the back of the 100' mirrored wall plus 5' on either end are ten 10'x10 rooms (#2 through #11). These rooms most prominent feature is that they all have stone walls on the back of the mirrored wall; however from 4' high to 7' high by 9' wide there is a glass panel which provides a view into the main room on the other side of the wall. The view from the glass panel is obstructed by the damaged/shattered/missing areas of the mirrors on the other side of the wall. Each room has a long table shoved up against the wall just below the glass panel. There are four chairs at these tables and there is a second table and four chairs in each room. Empty shelves line both of the side walls. The walls between the rooms appear to be quite thin.

There is nothing else in these rooms.

Dungeon 23 Project - The Ruins of Mount Auyán (Day 032)

New Level

Room #1) An old broken stairway leads down from the ruins and rubble. It ends in the center of a large rectangular room that is mostly demolished, broken furniture (table and chairs litter the space) and rubble from broken stone work is scattered around.  A couple of dozen skeletons, not the animated kind (at least not at the moment) are at various points around the room. Remnants of armor and broken weapons are present.

This room is 100'x60' and built of marble and granite. While the room was very ornate, everything is damaged with broken rock and stone everywhere. Also there are lots of scorch marks, as though very high heat was repeatedly present in this room.

Along one of the longer walls (the east wall) are many 5'x10' alcoves with arched opening. They may or may not have a door or a secret door at the back.

Along the opposite wall are floor to ceiling mirrors, now mostly broken.

The two end walls each have three doors ( three to the north and three to the south) for a total of six doors.

Looking forward to 2024 and the 50th Anniversary of the Original Dungeons & Dragons (Part Two)

Given the recent debacle with Wizards of the Coast and their complete silence so far on the 50th Anniversary of the Original Dungeons & Dragons, it does not look like they even have this event on their radar yet, if ever.

Yet given recent events, it is very much in their self-interest to make a big to do about the 50th Anniversary and use it to do something special for the fans.

Here is one proposal(others in the future): Go into DriveThruRPG and make OD&D and supplements POD, currently that has not been done.

Here is a link to a site that while it still exists, not all of the content comes up, so here I use an Internet Archive link.
